Age Group Alignment
The age group alignment changes commenced this season, so far the transition has been smooth for
those affected by the changes. We recognize that this has not met favorably with all families, however
Little Athletics Australia and Little Athletics Tasmanian have strategies in place to ensure the impact to
members is kept to a minimum. The age range of State teams and number of team members has in- creased to accommodate those who have skipped their U13/U15 years, and those athletes will also be
recognised for Continuous Participation Awards by Little Athletics Tasmania.
The first of our State events have been very successful. The number of athletes competing for their
Centre at the McDonalds Life Member Challenge (Centre Challenges) meets. Congratulations to North
East (Northern) and South East Districts (Southern) for taking out this years shields.
Little Athletics Tasmania would like to advise that Kaelene Crossingham has been appointed as Educa- tion Director to fill the casual vacancy.
Kaelene has vast experience at Centre level, having acted in the role of President of St Helens Little
Centre prior to moving to Launceston for work in 2018. The Board welcomes Kaelene to the role and
we look forward to working with her to deliver education programs to Centres throughout the state.
Rule Changes & Records
With the changes to the implement weights for U11 Girls & Boys, U13 Boys Discus and U12 Boys Shot
Put, Little Athletics Tasmania and affiliated Centres have archived the previous records for these
events. New records will be established following the completion of competition for 2018 with the
best result achieved up to the 31st December being instated at both State and Centre level as the new

Entries for the Coles Northern All State close with your Centre Sunday 9th December.
Entry is open to all registered U6-U15 athletes. There is no qualifying standards for this event and athletes
do not require their 25 badge to enter.

State Multi Event Championships
ONLINE ENTRIES are now open for the Little Athletics Tasmania State Multi Event Championships.
The LATas Multi-Event Championship is for athletes in Under 9 to Under 15, no qualifying standards apply
though athletes must have earned their 25 badge by the 7th January 2019.
Athletes compete in five (Under 9 to Under 12), or seven (Under 13 to Under 15) events.
BOYS: 100 Metres, Sprint Hurdles, 800 Metres, Long Jump, Discus, High Jump, Javelin
GIRLS: 200 Metres, Sprint Hurdles, 800 Metres, Long Jump, Shot Put, High Jump, Javelin
Note: Only athletes in the Under 13 to Under 15 age groups compete in the High Jump & Javelin as part the
Athletes must compete in ALL events to receive a final score.
